Barangaroo is one of the most ambitious and significant waterfront redevelopments anywhere in the world. It is re-defining the western edge of Sydney’s Central Business District.
The area was a vacant 22-hectare former container wharf on the western harbour foreshore of Sydney Harbour, bordering the city’s Central Business District. It is now being transformed into a thriving public, residential and commercial precinct with a waterfront promenade running the 2km length of the site. The entire $6+ billion project is due to be completed in 2024.
The precinct includes a recreated headland park called Barangaroo Reserve.
The NSW Government is returning this part of the city’s western foreshore to the public for the first time in more than 100 years. When it is finished, some 23,000 people will live and work in Barangaroo and it will be visited each day by an estimated 33,000 people.
