A key part in restoring the headland to a natural form was the planting of 75,000 native trees, shrubs and bushes.
The plants were selected following a study of unspoilt natural areas, along the Hawkesbury River and within the Mugamarra Nature Reserve. The park’s design team have specifically selected species largely indigenous to headlands and ridge tops surrounding Sydney.
Andreasens Green, one of the largest wholesale nurseries in Australia was awarded the contract in 2011 to provide the 675 trees, 2,212 shrubs and over 70,099 other plants for the six hectare park.
